Your courier is not a vendor — it is 30–40% of your customer experience. Choose the wrong one and Meta Ads become unprofitable overnight because a spike in 'not received' complaints tanks your ROAS. After running fulfilment for dozens of Dhaka Shopify and WooCommerce brands, we've stress-tested every major courier in Bangladesh. This is the honest, data-backed 2026 comparison — Pathao Courier, RedX, Steadfast, Sundarban, eCourier, and Paperfly — with the exact criteria online stores should use before signing a contract.

Why courier choice makes or breaks a BD eCommerce brand#

In Bangladesh, 80–85% of online orders are still Cash on Delivery. That means every parcel is a promise the courier has to keep for you. When a courier delays 2 days, your customer forgets the ad. When they lose a parcel, you eat inventory cost, refund cost, and re-shipping cost. When they mishandle a COD collection, cash flow stalls for weeks. Your merchant experience with Shopify or WooCommerce is invisible to buyers — but the delivery agent's uniform is your brand.

The paid-media math amplifies this. If your Meta Ads CPA is BDT 250 and 30% of COD orders come back, your true CPA is BDT 357. Push the return rate to 15% and CPA drops to BDT 294 — a 17% improvement in profitability without touching creative, budget, or landing page. That is the leverage of the right courier partner.

The 8 criteria we score every courier on#

Before we compare individual couriers, here is the scorecard we use with clients. Marketing agencies talk about ROAS; we talk about the operational metrics that make ROAS possible.

  • COD success rate — % of parcels delivered and cash collected on first attempt
  • Delivery TAT (turnaround time) — Dhaka city, outside Dhaka, and remote upazilla
  • Coverage — total thanas served with own hubs vs. third-party sub-agents
  • COD remittance cycle — how many days from delivery to money-in-your-bank
  • Return handling — cost and time of returning refused parcels
  • API and integration quality — Shopify, WooCommerce, custom, webhook reliability
  • Damage / lost-parcel liability — insurance, claim process, average payout time
  • Merchant support — WhatsApp, dedicated KAM, dispute-resolution SLA

Pathao Courier — the Dhaka city default#

Pathao Courier grew out of Pathao's ride-hailing network and inherits its dense Dhaka rider mesh. It is the fastest option inside Dhaka city — same-day and next-day delivery are genuinely reliable for Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, Uttara, Mohakhali, Bashundhara, Mirpur and most inner-city thanas. COD success rates on our client accounts consistently sit at 80–86% for Dhaka-only campaigns.

Where Pathao gets weaker is outside Dhaka. Coverage exists in Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Cumilla and other divisional cities, but delivery TAT stretches to 3–5 days and remote upazilla coverage depends on third-party partners. Their API is one of the cleanest in the market and Shopify integration is solid via community connectors and their official merchant panel. Remittance cycle is 3–5 business days — competitive but not the fastest.

Recommended for: Dhaka-first fashion, F&B, and lifestyle brands with 70%+ of orders inside greater Dhaka; brands that value speed over rock-bottom pricing.

RedX — the nationwide COD workhorse#

RedX (Softbank-backed, part of the same group as Pickaboo) is currently the largest last-mile network in Bangladesh by daily parcel volume. Their real strength is nationwide coverage — 493 upazilla out of 495 are served, mostly with owned hubs rather than sub-agents. If you sell outside Dhaka, RedX usually wins on delivery attempt rate.

COD success rate on our accounts sits at 74–82% depending on category, with fashion and lifestyle running lower and electronics higher. TAT is 1–2 days Dhaka, 2–4 days outside Dhaka. Their WooCommerce and Shopify plugins are functional but not as polished as Pathao's. Support runs through both WhatsApp and phone with reasonably fast SLAs at higher volume tiers. Remittance cycle is 4–7 business days.

Watch-outs: with volume this large, occasional 'parcel stuck at hub' incidents happen. Assign a dedicated ops person to monitor the dashboard daily — do not treat RedX as fully hands-off.

Recommended for: nationwide eCommerce (fashion, gadgets, home) doing 500+ parcels/day where upazilla coverage is a moat.

Steadfast — the merchant-first challenger#

Steadfast has built its reputation on merchant experience. Their dashboard is arguably the best in Bangladesh — real-time parcel status, clean bulk-upload, in-line COD reconciliation, and a well-documented API. For smaller and mid-market brands, Steadfast is the courier that actually feels built for you.

COD success rates match RedX on Dhaka routes (78–84%) and are slightly lower outside Dhaka due to a smaller network. Remittance is fast — often 2–4 business days for Dhaka deliveries, which materially helps cash flow if you are reinvesting in Meta Ads weekly. Their support team is small but responsive; expect a real person, not a ticket queue.

Recommended for: growing D2C brands doing 30–500 parcels/day that prioritise ops visibility, tight remittance, and hands-on support over raw scale.

Sundarban Courier — the trust brand#

Sundarban is the oldest and most trusted name in Bangladeshi courier — everybody's mother has heard of it, which quietly reduces refusal rates on cold Meta traffic in tier-2 cities and villages. For price-sensitive rural audiences, that brand equity actually converts.

The trade-offs are digital. The API is basic, the dashboard is dated, and integrations with Shopify or WooCommerce usually require custom middleware. TAT is slower (3–7 days outside Dhaka) and remittance cycles are longer (7–10 days). Manual booking is still the norm at many branches.

Recommended for: brands selling household goods, appliances, or gifts to tier-2 and tier-3 audiences where trust brand > delivery speed; or as a secondary courier for zones where digital-first players have weak coverage.

eCourier — the API-first Dhaka option#

eCourier positions itself as an API-first, tech-forward courier for Dhaka and major cities. Integration quality is very good, the dashboard is modern, and TAT inside Dhaka is comparable to Pathao. Coverage is thinner than RedX outside divisional cities.

COD rates on our client accounts run 76–82% in Dhaka. Support responsiveness is strong at growth tiers. Consider eCourier as either the primary for tech-forward Dhaka brands, or as the failover courier when Pathao has capacity issues during Eid/Puja peaks.

Paperfly — the enterprise / cross-border option#

Paperfly is heavier on enterprise clients — Daraz, Chaldal, corporate B2B — with strong nationwide coverage and mature warehousing services. For pure D2C at BDT 30–500 parcels/day, it is often overkill and integration onboarding is slower. Where Paperfly shines is fulfilment-as-a-service: warehousing, pick-pack, and last-mile in one contract for brands scaling past 3,000 parcels/day.

The multi-courier strategy every serious BD store should adopt#

There is no single 'best' courier in Bangladesh — the smart play is to run 2–3 couriers in parallel and route parcels by zone. In our client stack, a typical setup looks like this: Pathao for Dhaka city same-day, Steadfast for greater Dhaka next-day and cash-flow-sensitive routes, and RedX for outside-Dhaka nationwide. Sundarban stays on standby for specific rural zones where the others fail.

Route assignment is easily automated via your Shopify or WooCommerce order tags or a simple middleware script. The operational overhead of managing multiple couriers is tiny compared to the 4–8% improvement in successful delivery rate — which flows straight to bottom-line profit and unlocks paid-media scale.

  • Zone-based routing (postcode → courier) as the default
  • Automatic failover when a courier's dashboard shows capacity delays
  • Consolidated MIS in Google Sheets or Shopify Flow for daily ops review
  • Weekly performance scorecard per courier — success rate, TAT, complaints

How courier choice interacts with Meta and Google Ads#

This is the part most agencies miss. Your courier's COD success rate is a direct input into your ad account's blended ROAS. If you switch from a 68% success courier to an 82% success courier without changing anything else, your effective ROAS jumps 20%+. That single operational fix often unlocks the budget scale that creative and audience testing cannot.

We recommend running a 30-day A/B on Meta with identical creative but different fulfilment routing — you will usually see the winning courier's cohort produce a materially lower CPA even before you finish the test. Once you have that data, negotiate with the losing courier on price or drop them from that zone.

Contract negotiation levers most merchants miss#

Every courier in Bangladesh is negotiable if you commit volume. The levers to push on: per-parcel price by zone (Dhaka vs outside), COD collection fee (0.5–1.5% is standard), return-parcel fee (often waivable up to 15%), remittance frequency (weekly vs bi-weekly), and dispute-resolution SLA.

Ask for a 30-day pilot at your projected volume before signing an annual contract. And always keep a second courier active — the moment you become single-sourced, your negotiating power collapses.

Red flags to walk away from#

A few patterns should be immediate disqualifications regardless of which courier you're evaluating: no real-time API for order status, remittance cycles longer than 14 days, refusal to sign a written SLA, opaque return-parcel fees, and any courier that won't share a category-specific success-rate benchmark for your niche. These signal a courier that will surprise you at scale.

The takeaway

There is no single winner among Bangladeshi couriers — Pathao owns Dhaka city speed, RedX owns nationwide coverage, Steadfast owns merchant experience, and Sundarban owns rural trust. The right answer is a zone-based multi-courier strategy, weekly performance scoring, and treating courier ops as a paid-media leverage point. Do this and your Meta ROAS will silently improve 15–25% inside 60 days.

Frequently asked

Questions Dhaka founders ask us

Which courier is best for eCommerce in Bangladesh?

There is no single best courier — Pathao wins for Dhaka city speed, RedX for nationwide coverage, Steadfast for merchant experience, and Sundarban for rural trust. Most serious BD eCommerce stores run 2–3 couriers in parallel and route parcels by zone for a 4–8% improvement in successful delivery rate.

What is a good COD success rate in Bangladesh?

A healthy blended COD success rate in Bangladesh is 78–85% for Dhaka city and 70–78% nationwide. Anything below 70% signals a courier, funnel, or order-confirmation problem — usually order-confirmation calls or landing-page mismatch, not courier alone.

How fast is Pathao Courier delivery in Dhaka?

Pathao Courier delivers same-day within Dhaka city for orders booked before 12 PM and next-day for evening bookings. Outside Dhaka, expect 2–4 days depending on distance and the destination hub's pickup schedule.

Which BD courier has the fastest COD remittance?

Steadfast is generally the fastest with 2–4 business day remittance for Dhaka deliveries. Pathao runs 3–5 days, RedX 4–7 days, and Sundarban 7–10 days. Faster remittance materially helps cash flow when you are reinvesting weekly in Meta Ads.

Can I integrate multiple couriers with Shopify in Bangladesh?

Yes — Shopify handles multi-courier routing natively via shipping profiles and third-party apps like Courierly or custom middleware. Most Bangladeshi Shopify stores doing 100+ orders/day use 2–3 couriers routed by postcode zones and order tags.

Do BD couriers offer insurance on lost or damaged parcels?

Most major BD couriers offer parcel-value insurance up to BDT 5,000–20,000 by default, with paid upgrades to BDT 50,000+. Claim SLAs range from 7–30 days. Always confirm the claim process in writing before signing an annual contract — verbal assurances rarely hold up.
